Hello! Dave Simonett here.

First, as an introduction, here’s part of a bio a wonderful music writer wrote for me a little while back:

“Dave Simonett has spent almost two decades as the lead singer, guitar player and songwriter for the widely popular and beloved roots band, Tramped By Turtles. He also fronts Dead Man Winter, a bull-bodied, emotionally resonant brand of Americana-infused indie rock band. The conversational and poetic style in which Simonett writes is often inspired by the spacious and stark Northern woods of Minnesota, where he's from.”

Coversational? Poetic?? Go on! I don’t know if I can live up to that, but here is where you’ll see me try.

Good Record is my attempt at sharing the view from my little corner of the universe. I’ve always leaned on the written word as my vehicle of expression and I thought this might be an interesting way of sharing the much larger chunk of life that happens off the stage. Here you may find stuff like unreleased demos, poetry of questionable worth, musings on the outdoors, love, travel, parenting, dogs, baseball, what it’s like to be in a band with the same guys for half my life, stuff of that nature. There is a paywall for most of the real juicy items, but I hope you find the content worth the fee. You are of course invited to roam around here as long as you like for free if not. Whoever you are, thanks for taking an interest in what I do. I feel like all of the varied creative enterprises in any one life are deeply connected and I’m excited to see where this avenue leads.
