A few weeks ago I spent a handful of days at my favorite recording studio, Pachyderm. This time, however, I wasn’t working on anything of my own, but rather I was there in another role, that of producer. The band I had in there was The Last Revel. I’ve known these guys for a long time, albeit a bit from the periphery. They even played at one of our Duluth Bayfront shows a while back, though at that time one of their original members was out of the band and was replaced by someone else. My Dead Man Winter brother Lars was playing drums with them at that time too, I believe. As many bands do, they’ve changed forms a bit over their tenure, though the original trio is back together now (with the addition of bass player and vocalist Lauren Anderson). Unlike TBT, whose lyrics are written by one tyrant with control issues, The Last revel pass the notebook around the band, so to speak.
