I’m sitting in a yellowish hotel room in Lincoln, Nebraska, USA. I think I’ve stayed here before, but I really can’t remember. Tonight, TBT is playing a show at the Bourbon Theatre. I often wonder what causes a business to pick a certain spelling of that word. Guys, you think we should go with Theater? Or Theatre. Oh I like the second one it looks classy. In any event, we’re excited for this show for many reasons, not least among them is that we haven’t really played our “own” show for a while. Meaning, we haven’t been the headliner. We haven’t been playing a full set with a real sound check and our own light show and all of the hoopla a band doesn’t get to utilize as an opener. We’ve been spending a lot of time as an opening band lately, and even though we don’t get to be too fancy in that role, it’s one we’ve truly come to appreciate. Our band has a lot for which to be thankful, but I feel it’s extra special that at 21 years of age, we’re still getting opportunities to play in front of relatively new audiences by way of opening for other bands. Plus, the bands we’ve been opening for are playing arenas! I mean how cool is that? We never thought in a million years we’d get to grace the really big stages and though it’s been a bit of a steep learning curve, we’ve come to really enjoy them.
